LETTERS, Page 6Art in Shakespeare
We are told in the story on 16th century artist Giulio
Romano (ART, Nov. 6) that he "is the only painter mentioned in
any of Shakespeare's plays." But you don't name the work. Save
me and the rest of your interested readers the time it would
take to reread all of the bard of Avon or go looking for a
concordance to Shakespeare. Which play?
Lawrence B. Ruark Framingham, Mass.
". . . That rare Italian Master, Julio (sic) Romano; who,
had he himself eternity and could put breath into his work,
would beguile Nature of her custom, so perfectly he is her ape."
The Winter's Tale, Act V, Scene 2
